The PORTUGUESE WATER DOG (Cao de Agua Portugues) is an intelligent breed, full of character and charm.  With proper training, exercise, socialization and love and affection, you will have the most wonderful companion.

PWDs are considered a non-shedding breed, but are NOT hypo-allergenic and this is determined by the severity of ones allergies.  The middle of their standard for height is 19 inches at the withers.  A curly or wavy coat is acceptable by the standard and both may be found in litter mates.  The coat may be a variation of black, black and white, brown, brown and white.

Our goal at “Claircreek on the Riverside”  is to produce beautiful, healthy PWD’s with sound temperaments, to be loving companions for the special people that are attracted to this breed.

All of my breeding pairs are tested with the latest health tests that are available and recommended by the PWDCA and the PWDCC and therefore the puppies can be guaranteed against these diseases.

We have limited breedings, but at any time, I would love to talk to you about your  interest in this pure bred dog and help evaluate if this is the right breed for your family.

I have been active in the breed since 1999 and a member of the PWDCA and PWDCC since then.  I am a former Director of the National Club, and former Water Trial Committee and Vice Chair of PWDCOntario.  I love to breed, train, groom and show my own dogs and teach grooming and training for PWD’s.
